New London County resident Jaimer Martin Ico Gregorio, of the city of New London, was located on Sunday, July 30, in the ocean off Dunes Park Beach in Westerly, Rhode Island.

Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella said Jamier went missing on Thursday, July 27, around 7 p.m. while swimming with family and friends.

On Sunday, around 5:15 p.m. the police department received a report that a body had been recovered on the ocean side of Wawaloam Drive, the chief said.

"Jamier was located by a friend of the family, who had been in the area along with many other friends and family the past few days," Gingerella said.

The majority of Jaimer's family and friends live in Guatemala and his family would like to like to bring closure and peace by having him back home, said a GoFundMe effort started by family friend Jose Ixcoy Osorio to help make that happen.

So far, the effort has raised more than $17,000 of the $25,000 needed to make the journey to take Jaimer home.
